radioset18.jpg 9 venues. 5 days. Oodles of bands.

This year’s Oxjam will take place over five days on Tyneside in October, with over 50 acts appearing. Imagine! (And they’ve got a couple of fundraisers taking place in September, too.)

My how you’ve grown! What started as a one-day event, which subsequently became a three-day affair, has now blossomed into a full five day extravaganza with bands playing across nine venues. And those venues in full: The Head of Steam (17 October), NEMIX (18 October), Arch Sixteen, Hidden Height, The Central Bar Gateshead (19 October), Kommunity NCL, The Blackbull (20 October) and The Cumberland Arms and Cobalt Studios (21 October). Grab yourself a wristband for seven quid (SEVEN QUID!) and that will give you access to all venues where you’ll be able to catch some of the finest up and coming bands around including the likes of The Radio Set (pictured), Human X, Echolines, Dr Lush, PWFV, Haythem, Palm Beach and many more. And before this all kicks off it’s worth noting that there will be an Oxjam Sunderland event (headlined by Picnic) taking place at Independent on 15 September, and the annual Oxjam Rocks at, where else, Trillians on 30 September. Oxjam began in 2006 with the aim of creating a network of music-loving people all united by a shared goal: to raise money to fight poverty and suffering around the world. Read more on this, and about all of the above, from the Oxjam Facebook page, below.
