For your delectation, and to lighten the general sense of trepidation, this month I recommend a daily dose of the images on Terrible Real Estate Agent Photographs (terriblerealestateagentphotos.com). I’ve mentioned this website before – a few years ago, along with some others that brighten my day – but right now Terrible Real Estate Photos is the gift that keeps on giving, and I need it to help me see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s hard to see this light past the orange glow unfolding across the pond (as I write this I wonder if Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ will be number 1 in time for 45th'svisit. Fingers-crossed). What with this and the Brexit Express currently hurtling towards us, it’s hard to see anything at all. Not that I think the EU project is perfect, far from it – but when we become one tiny island on our own that’s what we'll be: one tiny island on our own. Wake up Little England the world is a big place and we are not the boss of it. Our colonial past, our smash-and-grab march across the world is the foundation we’ve built our house on. Isolation is no way forward, not now. In the past isolation has been the precursor to all sorts of fascistic horror. Human rights, you can forget about those (unless you’re an uber-capitalist, or a privileged white cisman); and just go look up the New York Daily News front page from 28 June 2018 to see what people feel about Trump’s pick for the newest Supreme Court Justice. They are saying what a lot of people are currently thinking; what’s even sadder is that they are saying what less-privileged, less-white people have been saying for a long, long time. And I don’t want to make light of any of this but sometimes I just have to visit Terrible Real Estate Agent Photos and laugh out loud. This Friday an inflatable baby blimp has been cleared to fly over London – I am thinking about that as I type it. Wtf? By the time you read this we’ll have all seen it on TV. Just another day in paradise eh? I repeat, Wtf?
