Pop music is definitely my thing and I’ll be chomping at any bit going for the arrival of the Endeavour Festival which is coming to Stewart Park in Middlesbrough and featuring Rita Ora (pictured), Louisa, M.O and more.

Rita Ora hit something of a wonky gong with her last single,Girls, which was supposed to be a celebration of bisexuality. It featured a chorus that runs: “Sometimes I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls / Red wine, I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls”, which, to some – me included – appeared to validate the myth that women only hook up with other women as a drunken dare or because it turns men on. But I’m not going to chuck the banger out with the bathwater because of some clunky lyrics and I’m certainly going to keep spinning tracks such as Ora’s Anywhere, which was one of the best singles of 2017. And she’s a super-hot live performer and I’m sure she’ll be on fine form when she plays Stewart Park in August. And the line-up is rather tasty too with support coming from Louisa (who won the X-Factor in 2015), M.O (a girl-band with a clutch of great singles behind them), Kara Marni (a young pop star in the making) and Hannah Jane Lewis (ditto). I just wanna watch girls, girls, girls.

Endeavour Festival, Friday 24 August, Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, 6pm-11pm. There are a variety of different priced ticket packages available from £35. endeavourfestival.com
