picnicinema18.jpg Picnic Cinema is back! Hooray!

Yes! Eden Arts’ Picnic Cinema is back this summer with shenanigans, discos, tomfoolery, dancing and classic cult films being screened right across the north.

And they’re getting things underway as they always do with screenings of Withnail & I (13/14 & 20/21 July) in Cumbria at Sleddale Hall, which fans of the film will probably know best as Uncle Monty’s Cottage. It’s remote, so camping is a must for this one, but, trust me, it’s worth it. Then the horror is ramped up for Dog Soldiers (3 August) in Hamsterley Forest, Co. Durham and Sightseers (4 August) in Lowther Castle, Cumbria. Other delights scheduled to light up you summer will include The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (10 August) at Muncaster Castle, Cumbria; The Big Lebowski (11 August), Muncaster Castle, Cumbria; 24hr Party People (18 August), Kirklinton Hall, Carlisle; and Moulin Rouge (22 September), Festival of Thrift in Redcar. The films are much more than mere screenings however with fancy dress encouraged, music and dancing, bars, picnics, camping and more. Full details on all of the screenings and all the other high-jinx can be had from the website, below.
