The fab comedy festival Jesterval is back in July with a venue that’s even better than their last one…

I rather liked the big top that Jesterval used to set up in next to BALTIC, but, I have to say, I like Live Theatre even better which is bully for me as that’s where this year’s comedy festival is taking place. What hasn’t changed is the quality of their line-up that is once again packed with the kind of goodies that has had me going through their programme and putting a great big tick against just about every name. I Daniel Blakestar and local hero, Dave Johns, will be performing his hour-long show, and during the 14 days of the festival he will be joined by the likes of Lauren Pattison (pictured - a local lass who has been creating waves both nationally and internationally), Paul Foot, Daniel Sloss, Adam Bloom, Kate Lucas, Catherine Bohart and Kai Humphries. Phil Nichol, star of the hit musical, Everybody’s Talking about Jamie, will be bringing his Edinburgh preview, Your Wronger, and there will also be turns from The Kagools, Carey Marx, Tanya Lee Davis, Larry Dean, Dan Nightingale, Matt Read and many more besides. Hoot your rootin’ tootin’ self inside out.

Jesterval, Monday 16-Sunday 29 July, Live Theatre, Newcastle, £5-£13.50. jesterval.com
