The Globe is the wonderful pub/venue in Newcastle that is superhot in programming an imaginative line-up that covers just about every musical base that you can think of.

It’s true! The Globe – a cooperatively owned venue – features a truly diverse programme of live music and events, including rock, jazz, LGBTQ+ nights, reggae, folk and dance. Situated close to the Metro Radio Arena, they’re no slouches on the booze front either with a well stocked bar taking in draught beers, local ales and plenty of wines and spirits – which all go down nicely in such a convivial atmosphere.

Recently, Noircastle, a goth/industrial/EBM/alt club night that runs roughly every other month, started introducing bands to their rip-roaring events so expect to see more of breaking new talent playing alongside some familiar favourites. Their next line-up is a really beauty featuring 1919 (pictured), the original goth-rock legends who formed back in 1980 and are touring the UK with a new album. They’ll be supported by Ghost Signals (local dark indie outfit) and a demonic duo going by the name Holy Braille. Crikey! Three bands. Three quid. Bish. Bosh.

Noircastle: 1919 + Ghost Signals + Holy Braille, Saturday 16 June, The Globe, 11 Railway Street, Newcastle, 7.30pm, £3. facebook.com/noircastle (contact howdy@theglobenewcastle.barfor info). theglobenewcastle.bar
