willowman18.jpg The Willowman Festival! It’s nigh!

North Yorkshire is pretty much right on our doorstep which is handy as the Willowman Festival is one of our favourite music gatherings anywhere in the UK.

The Willowman Festival has that one key ingredient that it’s impossible to buy or hire: vibe. And not only does it have that all-important vibe, it has it in spades, as anyone who has been to this most friendly of festivals will testify. It exudes the kind of bonhomie that bigger, more unwieldy festivals, just don’t have, and it also has the kind of eclectic line-up that will tickle the fancy of everyone from rock to dance fans.

Among the Main Stage acts this year will be techno stalwarts Eat Static, legendary Yorkshire outfit New Model Army (pictured), reggae-breaks-jungle mash up The Dub Pistols, and local heroes such as Cattle & Cane and The Radio Set. Elsewhere you’ll find the likes of Angelic Upstarts, Smoove & Turrell, Nerina Pallot, Bessie & The Zinc Buckets (Willow Wobby Stage), Captain Hotknives, Nick Harper and Barry Hyde (Acoustic Stage).

There will also be the Secret Sub Rosa Dance tent, featuring a collective of music lovers, artists, performers and old school party revellers – as well as new age party creators of the first order; and T’other Field will have a full programme of circus skills workshops, Willow Wonky games, healing, drumming workshops, stone balancing, Yoga and more; and there will be a huge variety of food and drink available.

I’ll drink a pint of real ale to that lot.

Willowman Festival, Thursday 14-Sunday 17 June, Hillside Rural Activities Park, Knayton, Thirsk. A variety of different tickets are available including day tickets. willowmanfestival.co.uk
