The Don: Great Northern Soul Food
If you’ve not previously shaken a tail feather at a Great Northern Soul Food bash, and you’re wondering, “Great Northern Soul Food? Where does the food bit come into it?” then you should know that these events are renowned for the quality of street food on offer, served up by some of the finest practitioners in the north-east. That’s your belly sorted, then, but what about your feet, your sashing hips and twitching derriere? They’ll all be seen to by the legendary Don Letts, the Rebel Dread of BBC Radio 6 Music, Big Audio Dynamite and Trojan Records, who will be on headlining duties and serving up the best in soul, funk and reggae. Previous events have sold out (ie they’ve shifted all their tickets, they haven’t bowed down before The Man) so don’t delay if you’re hungry for some Great Northern Soul Food.
Great Northern Soul Food: Don Letts, Saturday 16 June, Boiler Shop, 20 South Street, Newcastle, 5pm-12pm, £8. boilershop.net
