northumberlandpride18.jpg You remember your first time…

The very first Northumberland Pride is taking place in Alnwick on Saturday 2 June with a march through the town, community focused stalls and a real party-bag amount of acts.

I can never resist a glance down Pride line-ups lists – away from the headliners – to check out some of the more weird and wonderful acts appearing. Shawaddydaddies for instance. They’re a local outfit who describe themselves thus: “Four middle aged local lads based in Alnwick. Our music is Drifter style slash 70s rock and roll beat music. We have lots of humour and could be classed as the middle aged One Direction.” That’s me sold. They will be appearing at the inaugural Northumberland Pride along with Niki Evans (The X-Factor finalist – pictured), Lorraine Crosby (female vocalist on Meat Loaf’s I Would Do Anything For Love), Sound of the Sirens, Jess Kemp, Matt Dunbar, Northern Proud Voices, and oodles more. There will also be a health and wellbeing zone, family and young people’s zone, market stall area, food and drink and a march is also planned. When Shawaddydaddies hit the stage I’ll see you down the front. (Note: the official afterparty is at the Blue Bell Inn from 8pm to late.)
