nickjamesmushroom.jpg Mushroom Works at Cheeseburn!

Cheeseburn is a fabulous showcase for sculpture and other work and they’re having their first open weekends of 2018 this May with plenty to see both inside and out.

Cheeseburn is a private estate of ten acres of landscaped gardens in Stamfordham, Northumberland, housing contemporary sculptures from around the world and unique sound installations throughout the grounds. Their first open weekend of the year will also see Mushroom Works pop up in the ‘Game Larder’ and selling all manner of wonderful wares (check out this Nick James piece - pictured) designed and made with their own fair hands. Renowned for the quality of their pieces, a showcase event from Mushroom Works should never be passed up.

There will also be the unveiling of the 2017 Gillian Dickinson North East Young Sculptor winner Peter Hammer’s installation, Plato’s Lair, as well as the launch of an exhibition of proposals from ten young artists hoping to win this year’s prize. Come along and pick your favourite. Factor in the best homemade cakes you’ll find anywhere in the north-east (there, I’ve said it), which are sold in their café, and you’ve got the kind of day-out that spring/early summer was made for.

Cheeseburn: Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 May and Saturday 26, Sunday 27 & Bank Holiday Monday 28 May, Cheeseburn Grange, Stamfordham, Northumberland. cheeseburn.com; mushroomworks.com
