albie18.jpg Attention Hunger Games fans!

If you’re in thrall to Maze Runneror The Hunger Gamesbooks, and on the hunt for another series to take you off to a dystopian world, then Albie I: Fugitive of Tenebria, from local author Richard Stephenson, could be right up your street.

You might enjoy a visit to Tenebria but you certainly wouldn’t want to live there, certainly if you had the life of Albie whose world consists of the endlessly dank sewers and tunnels beneath the city (press your face against the grille of one of the tunnels and you’ll note that the city itself is populated by shiny, happy people who stroll among tree-lined plazas and transparent walkways). The contrast between the two worlds couldn’t be more stalk, but when Albie chances upon Tissa, a beautiful Tenebrian, their runes are thrown into the air with dramatic consequences. The first in a new futuristic fantasy series the book is being launched at the Surf Café in Tynemouth in early June with music from Ghost Signals, Great Waves and Sarah Connolly.

Albie: Fugitive of Tenebria launch party: Ghost Signals + Great Waves + Sarah Connolly, Saturday 2 June, Surf Café, Tynemouth, 7pm, £5. bit.ly/AlbieLaunch
