And, what do you know, it is Nowt Special, a collective project that aims to capture an insight into the variety of creative disciplines adopted by artists in the north-east and promote them to a wider audience. They’ve got a ‘thing’ at Tyne Bank Brewery on 18 & 19 May.

I know what you’re thinking: Nowt Special is just a series of art exhibitions, right? WRONG! Nowt Special is more than a series of art exhibitions. They offer an immersive and social experience, if you will, that showcases a cross section of artistic talent within the region, while also looking to light the touchpaper of creativity that occurs when disparate elements are brought together. For instance their opening nights have been known to feature tattooing, live painting and drawing, as well as beats, beer and plenty of take-home mementos available from the Nowt Special shop (think: artist originals, editions, sticker packs and t-shirts). They actively seek out artists working in any visually creative media including illustrators, print makers, painters, sculptors, film makers, animators, photographers, tattoo artists, graffiti artists, typographers, graphic designers and more. If you’d like to know more about the good stuff that they’re doing then visit one of their websites, below.
