glamowl18.jpg Lordy! Imagine shopping here!

No, this isn’t where Harry Potter buys his wands, but The Glamorous Owl in Newcastle, which has just celebrated three glorious years of independent goodness.

Every time an independent business in the region celebrates a birthday then an angel gets its wings. I think that’s the way it works anyway. And there’s sure to be one really happy celestial type swooping hither and thither around the clouds as we speak, because The Glamorous Owl has just blown three metaphorical candles out on its metaphorical cake.

And what a three years it has been! The shop is tucked away in the picturesque Old George Yard, which is just behind High Bridge in Newcastle, and it stocks some of the most exquisite jewellery you’ll find anywhere in the north-east, produced by some of the finest creative talent that the region has to offer.

And the gift shop boasts all sorts of other delights too, from handbags to fine art to key rings to scrummy jam (made with scrummy gin) and much more besides, with the place simply brimming with good stuff.

The upstairs gallery also doubles as a workshop where you can create your own silver jewellery under expert tuition, with classes to make rings and bangles taking place every day.

Plenty of people continue to snap up the chance to make their own wedding rings, and the shop is planning to launch a 12-week introduction to silversmithing in the near future.

This truly is the gift shop that keeps giving.
