If you’re looking for some kind of clarification on the above headline then cop for this: Belgium DJ Amelie Lens is all set to play Ape-X in Newcastle this March. At motherfuckin’ last!

The good folk of Ape-X have been hitting us up with some of the best parties in the north-east over the last 10 years or so, particularly when it comes to all of your house, techno (and beyond) needs. They’ve managed to attract most of the top targets on their “Must Get” list but one name has eluded them, until now. Yes – after months and months and months of trying – they’ve finally managed to snare the singular talents of Belgium’s most exciting export since Hergé, Leffe beer, and all of those footballers with daft haircuts - Amelie Lens. Her rise to the top has been fuelled by a strong work ethic, composure at the controls, crowd engagement and an incredible prowess in the studio – all the ingredients needed to swoosh her straight to the top of her trade. From Awakenings and Circo Loco to today’s best clubs such as DC-10, she has an intense touring schedule, but, thankfully, she’s managed to find a window to swing by our way. I’m so there, dude!

Ape-X presents Amelie Lens + Blackhall & Bookless + Joseph Albert, Thursday 15 March, Digital, Times Square, Newcastle, 10pm-4am, £18. skiddle.com
