shazia18.jpg The truth will out (kind of…)

The properly funny Shazia Mirza’s new show is about lies and it’s about truth (but it’s also about nudity and the periodic table).

Get the full lowdown when she comes to the Stand Comedy Club in February.

Shazia Mirza’s last show, The Kardashians Made Me Do It, had critics reaching for phrases such as, “One of the bravest and funniest comedians in the world” (Metro) and “Shazia Mirza is provoking laughter and large intakes of breath once again” (Telegraph), and she’ll no doubt be hitting the heights once again with her latest tour-de-force, With Love From St. Tropez. Her last outing saw her exploring politically correct liberalism, the intrusion of ISIS into young British lives, and jihadi brides, but this time around she’s wading through lies, lies and more lies, a topic with enough scope for her to really cut loose. Mirza has appeared on everything from Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls to Top Gear, Have I Got News For You to Loose Women, but it’s in the live arena where she’s at her best. Her shows are always a stand-out on the stand-up circuit, so don’t pass up this chance to catch her latest.

Shazia Mirza: With Love From St. Tropez, Sunday 25 February, The Stand, High Bridge, Newcastle, doors 5pm (show begins 5.30pm), £10/£9. thestand.co.uk
