The – and I’m not afraid to bandy the word around in this case – LEGENDARY folk outfit, Fairport Convention, are coming to Durham’s Gala Theatre in early February (presumably to play some songs).

I don’t suppose there’s a month goes by when I don’t slap Fairport Convention’s Liege & Lief album on my turntable. It helped establish folk rock in the UK and it continues to beguile and delight to this day – it was also voted the Most Influential Folk Album of All Time by listeners of Radio 2. Naturally the album is just one string in the band’s incredibly impressive bow with a back catalogue scattered with gem after gem, including 50:50@50 which was released to huge acclaim earlier this year. All those 50s referenced the fact that the band celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2017, but they’re moving into their 51st year in fine style by doing what they do best and hitting the road once again with a mix of favourites and material from their latest album. Thankfully, they’re swinging by our way in early February with a date at the Gala Theatre in Durham. Grab yourself a big slice of LEGENDARY.
