If you want to laugh yourself inside out in December AND bring joy to thousands of kids who would otherwise go without a gift this Christmas, then top local comic Jason Cook is once again staging Laffs4Kids. (Note: Adults only. There might be swearing and nudity. Note: There won’t be nudity.)

When I was a child my parents moved house a lot - usually just before Christmas - but, hey, I always managed to track them down. Some children are not so lucky however and every year 40,000 in the north-east will not have a present on Christmas Day. Laffs4Kids aims to help some of these children and for this year’s gig at the City Hall they’re only charging a fiver to get in, but are asking the audience to bring along a toy, all of which will go to a child who would otherwise have gone without. Once again the award-winning local comic Jason Cook is hosting and although the full line-up - all performing free - is being kept under wraps for the time being, they are hitting us up with the comment: “You will not be disappointed.” Last year’s shindig saw the likes of Chris Ramsey and Steffen Peddie appearing on stage, along with Lindisfarne’s Billy Mitchell, and if it’s half as good this year, then we’re in for a real treat.

Laffs4Kids, Tuesday 12 December, City Hall, Newcastle, 7.30pm, £5 (and don’t forget to bring a toy!). Booking through: theatreroyal.co.uk
