Food & Drink Reviews

sunderlandglassxmas17.jpg Attention festive foodies!

The National Glass Centre in Sunderland isn’t just renowned for its exhibitions and workshops. Their restaurant, The Glass Yard, has also won plaudits aplenty and they’ve got some extra special events lined-up in December.

The biggies for December will be evenings of Swing and Sparkle - Rat Pack tribute nights featuring performers giving it their all in the style of Frank, Sammy and Dean as you tuck in to a festive four-course feast. And after pudding the DJ will then be tempting you onto the dancefloor for a night of losing your inhibitions (Saturday 2 & 16 and Friday 8 December, 7pm, £35 per person).

You will also be able to get a gorgeous festive lunch between 12 and 2.30pm each day (except 9, 25 & 26 December) at £15 for two courses, or £19 for three, from 27 November to 31 December.

The popular Festive Afternoon Teas are also back from 2.30pm-4pm each day (except Sundays and 25 & 26 December). The traditional package is £14.50 which lets you enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches such as roast turkey and cranberry as well as freshly baked scones and a selection of pastries. The indulgent package is £18.50 which includes a warming glass of mulled wine.

And, hey, while you’re there, why not pop into the craft shop that is packed with artisan crafts, one-off jewellery pieces, twinkly baubles and glass pieces created on site. Perfect for self-gifting (or, if you must, a present for someone else).
