England’s leading children’s theatrical event, the TakeOff Festival, is back in Durham, and surrounding areas, in October for 90 performances spread across a full week.

This is the 30th anniversary of this amazing festival and producers Theatre Hullabaloo are really pushing the boat out with an action packed programme for young audiences, which will culminate with the Festival Family Day in Durham City on Saturday 21 October. But before that over 90 performances (90!) will be held right across the week.

Highlights are sure to include NEST (UK), a sensory journey through the seasons for babies; IPet (The Netherlands), a three dimensional show with cuddly devices; Troll (Iceland) bringing Icelandic folk tales to life using puppetry; and The Party (UK – pictured) bringing a fast paced acrobatic circus show our way (complete, of course, with pass the parcel).

Ages catered for include shows from 0-3 years up to 8+ (including Error 404 which is about a 10-year-old whose best friend is a robot). Needless to say, we’ve only just touched on the many delights that this year’s chock-a-block week contains. Full details from their website.
