To coincide with the fabulous exhibition on time travel at the Palace Green Library in Durham, The Gala is currently showing a season of films based around time travel.

Remember when summer blockbusters had a coherent story and didn’t rely on tonnes of migraine inducing CGI effects to achieve the wow factor? Back to the Future is one such entity and it’s just one of the classic films showing in this wonderful season at the Gala Theatre in Durham (Saturday 5 August, 3pm). Before it shows however, make sure you get yourself along to check out Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (Tuesday 4 July, 8.20pm), the hilarious, and inordinately clever, Groundhog Day (Tuesday 11 July, 6pm), Arnie’s finest couple of hours The Terminator (Tuesday 11 July, 6pm) and the ineffably daffy Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (Tuesday 25 July, 6pm). The season then rounds off in fine style with an HG Wells double bill: Time Machine and the incredibly underrated Time After Time (Sunday 13 August, 6pm).
