durhambrewery17.jpg Hey! A piss-up in a brewery!

The Durham Brewery is the oldest working brewery in Durham and they’re holding their annual beer festival on the first Saturday in August. Gonna be good.

British Bottlers’ Institute Gold, North East Exporter of the Year, Best Brewery in Co. Durham… Down through the years the Durham Brewery have had to really expand and strengthen their mantelpiece due to the amount of awards their various brews have snaffled. From pioneering light-hoppy styles of bitters to dark stouts, wheat beers and Bavarian lagerbiers they’ve consistently led the way when it comes to quality and diversity. And you can see just why they’ve won so many awards when their 23rd beer festival rolls around in early August with 10 beers on cask and keg (plus bottles) to be had. Gourmet food will also be available (with The Grind once again on hand with their scrummy gourmet burgers), along with gin and vodka from Durham Distillery, and soft drinks from Fentimans. Your five quid ticket will get you a free pint glass and a pint of beer, and if you book in advance you’ll get an extra pint on top of that. Sold!

Beer Festival, Saturday 5 August, Durham Brewery, Unit 6am, Bowburn North Industrial Estate, Co. Durham, DH6 5PF, 12-5pm, £5 per person on door (includes a free pint glass and pint of beer, or get an extra pint free by purchasing online or calling into their shop). durhambrewery.com
