picnic17.jpg A cinematic picnic with him anyone?

Eden Arts’ brilliant Picnic Cinema is back this summer with a number of film screenings in the north (which will also include parties and shenanigans and general tomfoolery).

First the bad news: Picnic Cinema’s four screenings of Withnail & I at Sleddale Hall (aka Crow Crag, aka Uncle Monty’s holiday home) are now sold out. Boo! But they do have some other beauties coming up – hooray! - involving much camping, glamping, dressing up and partying (oh, and watching some of the cultiest films ever made). A screening of The Wicker Man (Saturday 5 August - pictured) will take place at Appleby Castle in Cumbria, which should provide a stunning backdrop to one of the downright freakiest horror films ever to emerge from these isles. I’ll be the one in the animal mask looking for strangers. Then we have Pulp Fiction (Friday 11 August) and Boogie Nights (Saturday 12 August), both at Muncaster Castle in Cumbria. Tarantino’s masterpiece will also feature Jack Rabbit Slim’s Shindig, featuring tunes inspired by one of the best soundtracks ever, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s brilliant Boogie Nights will be all cocktails and 70s/80s classics. Delights, cameras, action!
