The Newcastle University Fine Art BA Degree Show is taking place this month with an astonishing variety of work on show.

Forget Glastonbury or Wimbledon or the Henley Regetta. My one perennial guaranteed must-visit during the summer months is to the Newcastle University Fine Art BA Degree Show; an event I’ve not missed since pussy was a kitten. These shows are always a delight and just the place to spot the next budding Bridget Riley or Anish Kapoor. This year the exhibition will bring together the work of over fifty young artists (including Molly Bythell – that’s her tongue between the legs (work in progress) pictured) at the culmination of four years of study on the BA in Fine Art and will include a diverse set of practices and media including painting, new media, film, video, sculpture, photography, print, sound, performance and installation. There is a preview on Friday 2 June from 6-9pm and then the exhibition will run until 17 June.

Newcastle University Fine Art BA Degree Show, Saturday 3 June-Saturday 17 June, Newcastle University Fine Art Department and Great North Museum: Hancock, 10am-5pm (Mon-Fri) and 11am-4pm (Sat & Sun).
