corbridgecast17.jpg Cast hit Corbridge

Cast are just one of the headliners at this year’s two-day Corbridge Festival which promises to be all kinds of wonderful. Cop for this lot.

Alright, Fine Time, Walkaway, Flying

Cast had one of the strongest runs of singles of any of the Britpop bands of the 90s with these anthems being belted out by huge crowds the length and breadth of the country. And the band still pack a real punch today as evidenced by the release of April’s Kicking Up The Dust album, which revealed that their melodic know-how is still ingrained deep within them. They’re playing the main stage on Saturday 8 July along with bands such as From The Jam, featuring Jam bassist Bruce Foxton, who will be playing some of the band’s most iconic hits.

More main stage action comes courtesy of Two Tone legends The Selector, X-Factor stalwart Lucy Spraggan, full-on folk rabble rousers Keston Cobblers Club, beatboxing legends Bloxed Beats (check this bunch out on YouTube – incredible), and local bands such as Coquin Migale and the awesome Baghdaddies. That’s all on the Saturday but the party will actually get underway on the Friday night when Craig Charles plays a sizzling DJ set featuring the best in soul and funk. In all there will be three stages as well as a kids zone, circus, workshops, fairground, street theatre, comedy, gourmet catering, stalls, bars and campsite. One of the most picturesque festivals you’ll find anywhere, the atmosphere is always top drawer here and ticket prices are kept on the right side of wallet-wowing. Check their website for the full low-down.
