The film festival Sunderland Shorts is back for its third year with a programme packing the best in micro movies from across the world.

Isn’t that him out of Game of Thrones? Her out of Eastenders? Him out of Ripper Street? Her out of Miranda? Him out of Breaking Bad? Yes indeed! This always wonderful festival is set to feature over 50 films that will include a whole raft of well-known actors who have been drawn to these film projects from a wide variety of filmmakers, from Sunderland to Kyoto.

The 2017 selection boasts movies with budgets ranging from £500 to over $100,000 and features shorts that have been selected by some of the most prestigious festivals in the world, including the Oscar-qualifying Cinequest Film Festival and Edinburgh Short Film Festival.

All manner of genres will be covered in films that are short on time, but big on impact. Our advice: Get shorty! (Note: This year they will also be presenting the inaugural Young People’s Film Festival, held at Sunderland College, with a programme of specially curated films submitted by young people in the region.)
