hardboiled17.jpg I’ll have mine Hard Boiled thanks

What would you say to a club night called Hard Boiled that featured only the crème de la crème of French electronic music? If you’d yell, “Qui! Qui! Qui!” then step right this way…

Ah France! Land of baguettes, gallic shrugs and striking air traffic controllers. It’s also a country that has been at the forefront of much electronic dance music including Laurent Ho (pictured - aka Ingler) who has cemented his place as one of the key drivers of the Frenchcore scene. Since 1992 he’s made waves at raves worldwide – mixing up trance, techno and ambient – but in recent times, under his Ingler guise, he has returned to his first love, hardcore techno. At Hard Boiled he’ll be blending frantic beats, industrial soundscapes, computer meltdowns (I wonder if he’s au fait with my always knackered Apple Mac) and more for an enlightening (and undoubtedly pulverizing) set.

Also along for the ride will be No Name & Mouse with a two-hour stint. These futuristic producers were some of the first hardcore types to come out of France in the mid-90s and their mind-melting sets are really something to behold. There will also be DJs playing everything from 1991-2009 taking in stuff from hardcore techno to gabba to tech-step and beyond. Grab yourself a ticket tout de suite.

Hard Boiled: Laurent Ho, No Name & Mouse + more, Friday 14 April, SR44, 44 Scotswood Road, Newcastle, 10pm, £15. wegottickets.com
