exchangeray17.jpg 40 acts. 3 stages. 1 venue.

And that venue in full: the wonderful Exchange in North Shields who are gearing up to hold their Originals Weekend Festival in early April which will celebrate original music written and performed by local artists and songwriters in the region.

Well this is going to be simply fantastic. It has been put together by Ray Rowley (pictured) who has been running the Originals events at The Exchange for over a year now, which has seen acts playing in The Exchange café/bar free of charge on the first Sunday of every month from 2pm-5.30pm. Due to the interest generated by these gigs Ray has decided to pull together an entire weekend dedicated to some of the extraordinary talent that is out there.

Headline acts for the weekend include laid back sounds from The ZuZu Cats, local favourites The Celia Bryce Band, up and coming outfit The Pastures, the uplifting Megan Clancy Band, the fun antics of Shinobi Fantobi, the jumping Neil Mac and the Beat Master Kev. There will be a late night bar on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 April with performances continuing into the evening.

Families will be welcome during the day with special tea-time live music on Saturday 8 April. Money raised will go towards a permanent stage and lights set up in the café/bar for musicians, poets and storytellers alike. Check the Facebook page, below, for all the up to minute news.
