cannycomic17.jpg Attention comics fans!

The Canny Comic Con! is a one-day festival celebrating comics and sequential art, and it’s coming to Newcastle in March. Hooray.

It’s all taking place at Newcastle City Library and is open to people of all ages, none of whom will have to fork out any money to get in (ie it’s free). There’ll be a hall of stalls, jam-packed with talented comics creators from around the region and beyond, representing a wide range of art styles, subject matter and levels of experience, with attendees ranging from accomplished pros, like Gary Erskine – who’s worked on all kinds of comics for major publishers – to local, open-to-all DIY comics groups such as the Paper Jam Collective who are launching their latest anthology at the event. There will also be talks and panels and hands-on workshops including a session of designing your own Star Wars character with Nigel Dobbyn. Get to it!

The Canny Comics Con!, Saturday 18 March, Newcastle City Library, New Bridge Street West, Newcastle, 10.30am-3.30pm, free.
