Wild Rumpus are, in actual fact, Gary Lucas (guitarist with Captain Beefheart) and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, and they’ve landed with a really lip-smacking collection of tunes which take in surf, reggae, electronica, alt country and blues. Now this may sound like a recipe for an incoherent mess, but this really holds together; kaleidoscopically colourful and hopping from upbeat and hand-clapping jams to more introspective chill-outs with ease.
