dene'sdelipic.jpg Dene’s Deli-cious!

Our favourite sandwich shop is celebrating 25 glorious years in the biz. Hooray!

“Carmichael’s phone rang, a request from Gormley that they stop and pick up Dene’s Deli sandwiches on the way back to the incident room…” That’s a line from Deadly Deceit, the latest in the DCI Kate Daniels series of novels by Mari Hannah. And it’s good to see that this delectable sandwich shop is now so much part of the region’s fixtures and fittings that it is being name-checked by award-winning authors. What’s so great about the place is that every sarnie is freshly made to order, and they never skimp by using mass-produced factory fillings. Indeed they go out of their way to source regiona ingredients, many of them from small local producers, and their range never fails to astonish. From sun-blushed tomato and pine nuts (amazing!) to bacon banana hot mango (amazing!) to mature cheddar, Wessex pickle, ham and beetroot (amazing!) these are sandwiches well worth writing home about - even if you’re not a hot crime author. (Note: They also offer a daily delivery service and outside catering menu. Check their website for details.)
