The Guide
Want to be a novelist? |

Fancy the chance of getting your book published…?
Tonto Books have just launched an Arts Council-supported project to discover, develop and publish talented new writers from the north-east of England. Best-selling north-east writers,
Kitty Fitzgerald (Pigtopia) and Wendy Robertson (Family Ties) will be judging the competition and selecting two new novels for publication. The two winning writers will enter into a development process with the judges to bring their manuscript to publication providing an invaluable opportunity. Both novels will be published early in 2009. ‘We’ve wanted to run a project of this size for some time,’ says publisher Stuart Wheatman. ‘It means we are able to continue supporting north-east writers and help two more towards publication. It is an exciting time for writing and we are sure the submissions we receive will reflect this.’
The competition will be building on the success of last year’s new novelist initiative where Newcastle-based writer, Pete Tanton’s (pictured) winning novel, Johnny Lonely, was published to critical acclaim. Writers of any genre can enter as long as they are based in the north-east and are yet to have a novel published. Closing date is March 31 2008. Full details from the website below.
