The generous 3000 square foot space inside National Glass Centre has an initial focus on artists whose work is being created across Europe, whether made in the Alps or the heart of fascist Rome, or from the most advanced laboratories in Italy to the eastern most city in the continent deep inside the former Soviet Union. The gallery's opening programme also celebrates the achievements of artists living and working in North-East England, who share new visions of how we live now. In each of its exhibitions in 2018, an artist will reveal a brand new body of work for the first time.
Gallery Wed-Sat 12pm-4pm (studios open Tues-Sat 10am-5pm – 8.45pm on Wed). Free Northern Print is the centre for contemporary printmaking in the north-east and they have a beautiful and welcoming space devoted to showing, and making, the very best in printmaking.

Full of fascinating objects from Japan, Mesopotamia and even further afield. Highlights include some amazing jewellery, plates, paintings and animal carvings. Also hosts temporary art exhibitions with an Oriental theme.
Open weekends, bank holidays, and Thurs in Aug. Admission: adult £6, child £3.50, family £15. Entry to tea-room and gardens free. The 300 year old estate is a spot of rural splendour amid Teesside’s urban chaos (you know it has to be good when the National Trust puts its name on it) The decor of the home is a testament to the now resurgent rococo 18th Century style and the grounds make the average garden look like a humble plant pot.
