Open: 10am-5pm Mon-Fri. Free admission. You can’t miss The Art Studio on St Michael’s Way in Sunderland. Primarily established to enable people with mental health problems to develop their skills. There are some magnificent pieces of work on show and workshops and open days where everyone is welcome.

The Biscuit Factory

Free The Biscuit Factory is one of the UK’s biggest commercial galleries and quite the beauty with 35,000 square feet consisting of two floors of exhibition spaces and two floors of artists’ studios. Selling paintings and prints, ceramics, glass, and sculpture from local, national and international artists they also have an excellent café and restaurant run by award-winning chef David Kennedy. A must visit.

The Port of Tyne Gallery at The Customs House showcases the very best of national, international and regional contemporary arts practice. With a changing programme of nine exhibitions a year, it is the only contemporary gallery space in South Tyneside, enabling the broadest spectrum of audiences and communities to participate and engage with contemporary art.

The Gallery at Gateshead Library
This gallery space holds a programme of temporary exhibitions across two floors of Gateshead Central Library. The Gallery mainly showcases professional regional artists with some national touring shows. Work is often for sale and The Gallery has supporting workshops and talks for all ages.
